I'm looking over the Bridger mountains from the plains where my family and I live in Manhattan, MT. The weather is starting to make the subtle transition from scorching summer, to the early stages of autumn. It's the type of weather we live for in Montana; cold enough in the evenings to light a fire, and warm enough in the day to expose our skin to the sun. We know it will be short lived, so we try to make the most of it. While we try to enjoy the moment the best we can, we know there is work to do. We need to winterize the sprinklers, place the firewood somewhere dry, and remove the kids' toys from the lawn so they aren't lost in the first snowfall.
In the midst of these fall projects, I reflect on where I have been , and where I am heading in the year to come. I ask myself what worked, what didn't. Where did I come up short, and where did I excel. I find in my reflection that there was never an instance or event that led to my success or failure. there was no silver bullet- Only consistency.
The ideas are reinforced year after year for me, that if consistently, I treat my customers and employees the way I desire to be treated, I can't go wrong, and neither can my business. If I treat my work as a passion, and not a job, I can't go wrong. If I never lose the desire to learn and improve, I can't go wrong. If I continue to reflect every time the leaves rattle, the snow falls, or the sun blazes, I can't go wrong.
To my customers, thank you for giving me the opportunity to have something to reflect on. To the readers of this page, I ask what goals and dreams are you reflecting on, and how can I help you get there?
